FAQ

  • Aim Psych Youth offers both virtual and in-person options.

  • No, parents/guardians are not required to attend sessions. However, we incorporate the entire family system in our work. We will consistently seek opportunities to include members of the family at various points in the treatment. We also believe that regular check-ins are a vital part of our work.

  • Aim Psych Youth focuses on working with adolescents and teens aged 12-20 and their families.

In special circumstances, we would consider working with an adolescent under 12, and in certain circumstances we work with young men 20-25 within the Aim Psych Youth team (as opposed to our male adult program Aim Psych.)

  • Aim Psych Youth focuses on male identity, masculinity, and the challenges young men face, making it a unique resource for teens seeking growth in a supportive environment.

Some families come to therapy when their teen is experiencing sadness, anxiety, withdrawal, anger, or struggles at home or school. Others come because they want their teen to have a space to process life, build resilience, and strengthen his sense of self.

You do not need to wait for a crisis or have all the answers before reaching out. An initial consultation can clarify how therapy may support your teen’s well-being and growth.

  • Your teen’s experience with us can be simple by design and singular in nature by working with just one of us. You can also expand and adjust over time to include other team members. We are intentionally nimble and adaptive in our process.

  • Our clinicians range from $250-500 hourly depending a variety of circumstances (duration, modality, frame, etc).

  • Aim Psych is an out-of-network (OON) private practice provider. We offer superbills for most services, which you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. Coverage and reimbursement rates vary depending on your insurance plan.

  • In-person sessions are available at our offices (various locations around Los Angeles) or, through our concierge care, in a setting where your teen feels most at ease whether at home, a park, or another approved space. Virtual sessions are available by phone or Zoom.

  • We’ll begin with an informal consultation with you to assess if your teen could benefit from our services. If we both agree, we’ll proceed to a formal consultation and assessment with your teen, where we’ll explore goals, needs, and clinical chemistry. This session will inform a comprehensive proposal that integrates the expressed goals with our professional input into a treatment plan. We may also engage one or members of the family as a resource to help us understand the circumstances of this young client more completely.

After the assessment stage, our clinical leadership will provide a clear plan for treatment, including information about the proposed therapist(s) and set up consultation with that therapist(s) for him (and potentially family members) to meet them.

  • The Core is a 10-week alternative to traditional therapy, offering weekly one-on-one coaching that equips teen boys with life skills, psychological insights, and practical tools for adulthood.

  • We call it Huddle. It’s a recurring weekly therapeutic group where teen boys come together to process what’s happening in their lives, reflect on their therapy, identify obstacles, and set new goals for the work ahead.

The goal is a safe, integrated and passionate conversation about well-being, personhood, health, healing and contemporary adolescent issues.

  • Though sometimes therapy is an ongoing, ever-evolving trajectory of growth, we also believe that for some, a goal of therapy is to leave therapy. Part of our job is to help support the most effective and efficient therapeutic experience possible. A key value of the team approach is that it optimizes the timeline for your teen. We won’t rush this, but we’ll be evaluating it earnestly in the later stage of the work together.

  • The easiest way is to submit an inquiry through our website or email us at consult@aimpsych.com. From there, we’ll connect you with a therapist who matches your needs and availability.
